Sue from Skyeblue asked what our dream house would look like. Well, for starters, mine would have NO openings anywhere that would allow rodents to access either the inside of the house (including cupboards in the kitchen), or the area up under the roof. Other musts:
- Some sort of Victorian design, with lots of gingerbread and a porch in front and in back
- Located in Pacific Grove, CA, which means only a hop and a skip from the ocean
- Totally ensconced amongst trees; the sun wouldn't touch any part of the house
- Not near any sort of trafficky area (loud street or noisy corner)
- All one floor (bad knees and hips)
- At least 1500 sq. ft. of space
- A tiny "office" where I could leave my laptop and printer permanently set up
- A humungous crafts room with umpteen sliding glass doors, so that when weather permits, I can have the sense of working outdoors (as I do now, on my porch), but when weather doesn't cooperate, I can still work away on my projects.
- Tons of closet space and cupboards and built-in bookshelves
- A small heated pool (6ft long x 8ft wide) for stationary waterjogging
- A big barn for the critters: 2 cows for milk, 2 goats for lawnmowing, a potbellied pig, 10 chickens for eggs, 5 white geese for entertainment, a Lippizan, a mule, a turkey, an alpaca and sheep for making my own wool (drool, drool!)
- An animal caretaker, gardener and maid
Until I developed hip and knee troubles, this is the sort of house I'd have bought in a heartbeat:

How could I have left out a heated pool? Dream house would have to have that! Plus gardener, maid--and what the heck--a cook too!
And I forgot built in bookshelves--I like those too!
We can dream, right?? [HEART][SMILE]
Right now..I'd be happy to fix that hole in the birdroom wall...where the Possum comes in at night. Aren't they 'meat eaters?' All they can find in the birdroom..is peanuts, fruit, veggies and seed. If he is waiting for my old Amazon CHILI..to 'bite the dust'..I got news for him! That 'Loud mouthed obnoxious parrot...that loves to bite me".. is only 10 years old..and will live to be 65![THUMBUP]

As for Chili, I feel like I personally know that crusty critter! He sounds a lot like Kiki the Military Macaw I used to play with @ the pet shop. Hookbills are sooo much fun! I never got enough of Kiki. [SMILE]
