Now, of course, the first one immediately made me think of a famous injunction: "Thou shalt have no other gods before Me." Which is pretty emphatic about the faultiness of smorgasboard theology.
The 2nd ad fit right in with the first one in this: referring to false worship, the same Author of the above commandment says, "And I will tread down the people in Mine anger, and make them drunk in My fury, and I will bring down their strength to the earth...With whom the kings of the earth have committed [spiritual] fornication, and the inhabitants of the earth have been made drunk with the wine of her [spiritual] fornication."
When it comes to choosing a spiritual tonic, it behooves us to make sure it's not hemlock.
